Our freestanding Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) biopsy clinic schedules patients quickly, offering convenient, pathologist collected ultrasound-guided biopsies with results back to you in 1-2 days.

Ophthalmologist and eye surgeon Timothy P. Powers, M.D., graduated from the Quillen-Dishner College of Medicine in 1988. From there, he completed a residency in anatomic pathology at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville and a Fellowship in ophthalmic pathology at the Medical University of South Carolina. He then completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Medical University of South Carolina in June 1995.

In July 1995, Dr. Powers joined the staff of The Eye Centers to practice eye surgery, including refractive surgical procedures. Dr. Powers began performing LASIK in 1997. Dr. Powers is on the medical staff of both The Eye Surgery Center of Oak Ridge and at the Methodist Medical Center.

In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Powers is an Assistant Professor of ocular pathology at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, and he is a contributing author of scientific publications and ophthalmology textbooks.

Dr. Powers is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is active in several professional organizations, including:

  • Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology
  • Member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons
  • Member of the American Association of Ophthalmic Pathologists
  • Member of the Tennessee Academy of Ophthalmology
